Infrastructure designed to be changed, not frozen

Most estates are not badly built. They are built once, correctly, for a set of assumptions that has since moved — and then defended rather than revisited, because nobody can say with confidence what a change would break.

We take the estate apart on paper first: what runs where, what depends on what, and which of those dependencies anyone has actually tested. The re-platforming that follows is the easy half. The half that decides whether it lasts is the operating model handed over with it.
